The Bustin EQ 36 and Boombox 42, new for 2012

Posted on Thursday, 8 March 2012

Bustin have released two new boards for their 2012 range, The EQ 36 and the Boombox 42. Both of the boards are an extremely up to date style and are also really versatile.

The EQ 36: Firstly the EQ 36 is aimed more towards downhill/freeride. Its not even worth listing the length of the board, unless your extremely stupid you will already know. So, it comes in at 10 inches wide at the widest point, it has a slight taper. The foot platform is 26" which is nice and compact. A strange feature for a board of this length is the long wheelbase 29"1/2, this is because the trucks are mounted right at the end of the board. What this helps with is dragging the board back up the hill.

Bustin has used 1/2" radial drops to create a locked in, and responsive feel to the board. These drops also keep your feet close to the trucks, and as we all know that equals responsiveness. The deck also features a 1/2" of rocker to add to the locked in feel, couple this with the radial drops mentioned above you must get an almost snowboard style feel when riding this thing trough corners and big slides.

And last but not least, this board looks to be as tough as nails. Its is made from 9 plys of Canadian rock maple and then cold pressed. The wheel wells are then hand sanded in and wallla!

The Boombox 42: For starters the Boombox is pressed from the same mould as the EQ 36, it has the same concave and radial drop pockets, width and rocker throughout.  But Bustin added some nice kicktails for your flip tricks and manuals etc. There is also a small amount of flex due to the construction using 8 plys. This is felt in the centre of the deck and allows for the landings of flip tricks and early grabs without putting any stress upon the structure of the deck itself.

Bustin recommend this deck more for free ride/freestyle as opposed to the more 'downhill' nature of the EQ 36. By adding both of these boards Bustin have really upped their game in the market and also increased the versatility hugely.

Thanks for reading and keep shredding!
