The Boomstick

This board was first seen on the new cover of the SKATE[SLATE] magazine with Kyle Martin shredding it up.

Will this board be a part of the new 2012 range released on the 30th of February? Or will it remain a prototype?

So first impressions, looks to me like Landyacthz's take on the comet Ethos. But, a slightly improved and more versatile style of board. I believe this for two reasons; firstly the amount of wheelbases and ability to house old and new school mounting trucks. So indy fans will be happy. And secondly look at the size of those wheel wells! As we all know wheel bite SUCKS! This will give the chance to run larger wheels for downhill or faster freeride. So far this deck is shaping up to be an extremely versatile piece of kit!

Now onto the rear end of the board; the kicktail and gnarly concave.

The tail: The tail doesn't look to steep which is always good, especially on a longer board as having a huge steep tail on a big board is no fun! It seems Landyacthz have found that 'happy medium' between being able to pop an ollie and still have the ability to free ride the hills. Kicktails also come in handy when doing big standies, railing corners and early grabs. It acts as pocket in which your back foot can comfortably lock into.

The rear concave: As we can see there is a hefty amount of concave in the back of the board. This concave is a result of those huge wheel wells we saw earlier. Tucking on the board should therefore feel locked in and comfortable. Couple this with the pocket created by the kicktail and you get one beautiful rear end!

A subtle W concave? There looks to be a shallow W concave starting after the rear wheel wells and finishing just before the front truck mounts.

And finally, the deck's surface! It looks to be a bamboo crossover of some sort. This should strengthen the board largely. Also it looks tasty! Overall this looks to be one of the most versatile boards of 2012 so far, cannot wait to try and hopefully purchase one myself!

Enjoy.
