Arbor Get Elevated 2012: Episode 4 - The Sticks

Posted on Sunday, 21 April 2013

"With just enough direction, the crew manages to meet up with Zarosh Eggleston in the sticks of Central California. An hour of dirt roads later, and they’re at his ranch enjoying his DIY spot, the relaxed lifestyle, and the local watering hole. The crew grabs some speed runs on an access road to a very wealthy community not keen on skateboarding, and takes a dip before the pilgrimage north begins again. Many thanks to Zarosh Eggleston, and the awesome community of Cachagua"  -  Arbor Skateboards

The Arbor crew always seem to have a good time and get to visit some insane looking spots, definitely a company worth following!

Arbor 2013 Lineup!

Posted on Thursday, 14 March 2013

Arbor have just dropped their 2013 line, with a ton of updates and additions its a definite force to be reckoned with!

The first two additions to the downhill, or newly named 'Icon Downhill' collection are the Highground and the Backlash alongside an updated Vugenhausen. The whole range also feature a "sustainable Koa Veneer Basesheet" giving a nice natural looking finish and hopefully adding some rigidity.

"The Highground is a tapered topmount that was designed to be a force on the racecourse; a speedboard that features a range of wheelbase positions, unique concave shaping techniques, and carefully placed flares that create stops, provide leverage points, and keep you locked in." - Arbor

The first directional top mount from Arbor coming in at 36" long and 10" wide and running a 29" wheelbase. It looks to have some adjustability from the image provided by Arbor, updates to follow on the board details as soon as they surface!

The above link showing two Arbor team members ripping the new shredsticks, check it!

"The new Backlash is a downhill design that features a truly functional kicktail. The design also utilizes a 24” rockered platform, partially flush-mounted trucks to maintain turning angle while providing superior slide control, and a three-inch nose. No limits - bomb, flip, slide - whatever." - Arbor

Arbor's resident do-it-all shred sled, the Backlash. Rocking a 24" wheelbase, it is capable of handling every terrain and riding style. It looks to have a nice meaty tail and a good sized standing platform for the faster riding, AFB has been shredding it in his latest video from Blood Orange:

And lastly the shakedown series has received a complete shape and size update. The three decks now have a 'squarer' tail/nose shape and are running slightly wider throughout. I'm really digging the new shape and style of the shakedown series, Arbor have really upped their game this time round. Watch this space!

Arbor 2012 Lineup

Posted on Wednesday, 11 April 2012

Arbor have officially announced their 2012 lineup. There a couple of changes and additions to the line up.

Firstly the 'Vugenhausen' now comes in a smaller 35" model swell as the original 38". There is also two completely new downhill/freeride models for 2012. The 'Cypher' and the 'Prodigy', the 'Cypher' is a drop through 'Vugenhausen' for those that like a lower ride whereas the 'Prodigy' is a micro dropped version of the 'Vugenhausen', it has a 1/4 drop and some rocker swell as a mellow W cave. The Hybrid series have also received an update all around and are now named 'The Shakedowns'.

And two there notable additions are the Catalyst's. They are twin kick drop through boards coming in at 38" and 42". The 38 is slightly narrower at 9" and the 42 comes at a nice 9.25" for those with bigger feet.  Twin kicks seem to be all the rage at the moment so Arbor know what their doing.

 Arbor 2012

Ok so last week at the first ever Longboard expo Arbor really got the ball rolling with their new 2012 range. From what it looks like they are really trying to expand as a longboard company into the downhill/freeride market.

So firstly we have the new drop through deck. Looks very similar to the Vugenhausen but with larger wings or gas pedals and a small amount of taper to the deck. The concave also looks nice and sharp at the edges which will keep you locked in through those sharp corners and slides. The nose/tails on this thing don't look amazingly durable poking out like that, but you never know. Maybe Arbor has come up with a new ultra durable wood?

Next onto 'The Prodigy' below. This deck looks to be a micro dropped Vugenhausen with nice sharp edged pockets. The only  information on this board at the moment is that it is 38 inches long and 9.85 inches wide with a 30 inch wheelbase. It is said to be made from 7 wooden plys and 4 fibreglass plys. This should give it a nice solid feel and hopefully a long lasting life.
